Andrea Zentai PhD

Food chain data analyst

Andrea Zentai is a bioengineer with a PhD in food sciences. In her dissertation topic she dealt with the elaboration of risk assessment methods for several chemical risks (mycotoxins, pesticide residues, poppy seed alkaloids).

She worked for the National Food Chain Safety Office (NÉBIH) and its predecessor, the Hungarian Food Safety Office (MÉBIH) for 13 years. She took part in risk assessment tasks at the office primarily aimed at chemical risks (mycotoxins, pesticide residues, poppy seed alkaloids, sweeteners, etc.) and the relevant public communication and publication activities. She had duties in the daily operation of the national contact point of the EU Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) for 8 years. She took part in the identification of emerging risks, preparation of food safety-focused analyses for the strategic planning, and in the administrative tasks related to the international projects of the office.

She was involved in the EFSA Scientific Networks on Nanotechnologies and on the Harmonisation of Risk Assessment Methodologies.

She worked as the national contact point of Codex Alimentarius for 10 years. She took part as Codex contact point and vice chair in the technical organization of the Codex Committee on Methods of Analysis and Sampling (CCMAS).

At DFI, she has responsibilities in the identification of emerging risks, risk assessment and educational tasks.
