Welcome to the website of the Department of Digital Food Science!

The Department started its work as the Digital Food Institute (DFI) on April 1, 2020 at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Budapest, which is one of the most important places for the training of food safety professionals in Hungary. The unit integrates food chain safety data analysis and research along the whole food chain and takes networking in this area to a new level. We aim to be an internationally recognized hub of experts and researchers in the field of food chain safety data analysis.

Since 2005, IAFP's European Symposium has been shaping the future of food safety by providing a forum for the exchange of ideas with colleagues from across Europe working in industry, government, and academia. The Symposium is an excellent forum to gain knowledge about the latest developments and techniques in food science and safety. The symposium will be held 30 April - 2 May in Geneva, Switzerland.

The possible role of everyday chemicals in global obesity

Obesity is increasing almost everywhere in the world, with more overweight and obese than underweight people globally. The accepted view is that overeating and insufficient physical activity are the causes. However, a small group of researchers questions this assumption and directs attention to the role of chemicals in the expanding waistlines.
