As a competent organisation of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the UVMB has successfully applied for the EU-FORA programme. The aim of the programme is to promote knowledge exchange and networking between organisations involved in risk assessment and related activities in the EU. The programme will fund the salary costs of a young researcher from any Art. 36 institution for 12 months and will also participate in intensive programmes on risk assessment organised by EFSA.

Elisa Palmas arrived from EFSA in September 2021. The work programme for the fellow consists of four modules covering different areas of data analysis and identification of emerging risks. The fellow will have an exceptional opportunity to gain experience in data analysis and visualisation tools through the emerging risk identification activities. The fellow supports both the development and identification processes during her stay.

At the end of the fellowship placement, UVMB will gain visibility from the final scientific report on the fellow’s work, which will be published in a special issue of the EFSA Journal.

EFSA has once again announced its EU-FORA fellowship programme. The deadline to apply for the revised and renewed programme as fellow or hosting site is 18 March 2022.
